Privacy Policy

Overview

Historical Psychologists is an educational chat product that lets users explore psychologist personas. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what controls are available to you.

Data We Collect

If you browse as a guest, chat history is stored locally in your browser. If you sign in, we store your account profile, saved conversations, messages, usage counters, subscription state, and authentication/session records required to operate the service.

Guest anti-abuse systems may also store short-lived verification cookies and rate-limit counters tied to a guest session identifier or network identifier.

How We Use Data

We use account and conversation data to deliver chat functionality, restore saved history, enforce plan limits, operate billing, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

Prompts and conversation content are sent to OpenAI to generate responses and to run moderation checks. API credentials remain server-side.

Third Parties

Authentication is handled through Google OAuth via Auth.js. Chat generation and moderation are powered by OpenAI. Bot verification may be provided through Cloudflare Turnstile when enabled. Payment and billing links may be provided through Stripe when connected.

Your Controls

Signed-in users can export their stored account data and permanently delete their account from the Account page. Deleting an account removes signed-in conversations, usage records, sessions, linked auth records, and the user profile from the database.

Guest conversation history can be cleared from the browser by starting a new guest conversation or clearing local browser storage.

Security and Retention

We use server-side secrets for database, authentication, and model access. Short-lived operational records such as rate-limit and usage buckets may be retained as needed to secure and operate the service. Signed-in content is retained until you delete it or delete your account, unless a longer retention period is required for security, billing, or legal reasons.
